Warren Averett actively supports student internships. Our internship program will give you exposure into the day-to-day activities of public accounting. The internship is also a great way to begin your career at Warren Averett.
As an intern, you will be treated much like a new staff accountant and given client assignments to complete with the guidance of supervisors. We want the internship opportunity to give you the experience you need to make future decisions regarding your accounting career. Therefore, as an intern you will start each day at Warren Averett with the opportunity to experience the “real” world of public accounting.
Warren Averett offers internships in our audit and attestation, tax, and business advisory practices for students in undergraduate and graduate programs. Our internships provide students the ability to:
- Gain valuable hands-on experience in the assurance, tax, and business advisory fields
- Serve a diverse client base
- Take advantage of cutting-edge technology
- Work with dynamic, team-oriented professionals
- Earn competitive compensation
Our internship is typically referred to as a winter internship. Winter interns are generally employed from early January through mid-March or April. All interns will receive orientation and training that allow you to become familiar with the Warren Averett team and culture.
To qualify for an internship, you must be an accounting major, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be a senior in college or in a graduate program. Our interns should also have a plan to obtain the 150 hours required to sit for the CPA exam. Our interns generally work a full time schedule during their employment with the firm which can include overtime due to the seasonal nature of the work. Other arrangements for a flexible schedule can be made based on the student's school requirements. An internship with the audit and attestation department of Warren Averett will require the ability to travel at times.
Warren Averett Testimonials
"I have had the best internship experience at Warren Averett. The company has a great training program for its interns, which is concise, to the point and lots of fun. In addition, the interns are provided with all of the necessary tools needed to succeed throughout the internship. A very professional, friendly, and family-like working environment at Warren Averett makes you feel that you are part of the company from day one. Everyone is so welcoming, approachable, and encouraging that no challenge seems to be impossible to overcome. During my internship, I had a great opportunity to apply my knowledge learned at school in a real world accounting profession which helped me to obtain many valuable skills and boost my confidence while working side by side with some of the best CPA's. I have had an incredible hands-on experience in both areas: audit and tax. I could not be more pleased and excited to start my career with Warren Averett."

"My internship at Warren Averett was extremely positive and provided me with a practical learning experience that will be valuable to me as I begin my career in tax accounting. I was able to acquire a good understanding of the tax process by completing many tax returns for different industries. Most importantly, the quality of the staff made Warren Averett a special place to work and was the key factor to my successful internship. The staff was very kind, understanding, and helpful. I owe everthing I learned during the internship to them because they spent many hours of their own time helping me through situations that I encountered daily."

"When I began my career in 1995, my aspirations were to become a CPA and work in the tax department at the Firm. As life progressed and it was my desire to start a family, Warren Averett was able to help me achieve that goal by offering a flexible work arrangement so that I could balance work and being a mom. I've been able to continue in my career and still be very involved with my family through the flexbile work arrangements that have been offered to me here."

"I have been working in the acounting field since before I graduated college, 10 years ago. During that time I have worked a full time position at several firms. Recently I started with Warren Averett as a "flex time" employee in the tax department. Having a small child that attends school and many other activities, the decision to join Warren Averett's team as a flex time employee has been a blessing. This option allows me to do both things I enjoy (accounting and being a mom) without the pressure and stressful schedule. In a way I guess you can say that I get to have my cake and eat it too, thanks to Warren Averett."
