Internships

Warren Averett actively supports student internships.  Our internship program will give you valuable exposure into the day to day activities of public accounting.  The internship is also an excellent way to begin your career at Warren Averett.

As an intern, you will be treated much a like a new staff accountant. You will be given client assignments to complete with the guidance of supervisors.  We want the internship opportunity to give you the experience you need to make future decisions regarding your accounting career.  Therefore, as an intern you will start each day at Warren, Averett with the opportunity to experience the “real” world of public accounting.

At Warren Averett we offer internships in our audit and attestation, tax, and business advisory practices for students in undergraduate and graduate programs. Our internships provide students the opportunity to:

  • Gain valuable hands-on experience in the assurance, tax, and business advisory fields
  • Serve a diverse client base
  • Take advantage of cutting-edge technology
  • Work with dynamic, team-oriented professionals
  • Earn competitive compensation

Our internship is typically referred to as a winter internship.  Winter interns are generally employed from early January through mid-March or April.  On occasion we may have a few summer internships available.  However, this is strictly done on a case-by-case and as needed basis.  If a summer intern is hired they generally work from the beginning of June until the end of July or mid-August.

Each program includes orientation and training as well as social activities that allow you to become familiar with the Warren Averett team and our culture.

To qualify for an internship, you must be an accounting major, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be a senior in college or in a graduate program.  Our interns should also have a plan to obtain the 150 hours required to sit for the CPA exam.  Our interns generally work a full time schedule during their employment with the firm, which can include overtime due to the seasonal nature of the work.  Other arrangements for a flexible schedule can be made based on the student's school requirements.  An internship with the audit and attestation department of Warren Averett will require the ability to travel at times.
