Benefit Plan Audits
Warren Averett performs audits for over 90 employee benefit plans each year, ranging from under $1 million to over $500 million in assets. Annually, we attend the National Conference on Employee Benefit Plans sponsored by the AICPA to stay abreast of current issues in auditing of employee benefit plans. We are charter members of the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center which is a voluntary membership to help CPA’s meet the challenges of performing quality audits in this unique and complex area. Our goal is to audit your plan in the most efficient manner possible, while meeting regulatory and applicable audit standards.
As the largest CPA firm in Alabama, we have established a heritage of superior service with the clients we serve. According to the Department of Labor (DOL), there are nearly 10,000 CPA firms who audit more than 80,000 employee benefit plans. There are approximately 180 CPA firms including Warren Averett who audit 45% to 50% of all employee benefit plans. This means that the remaining 40,000 audits are performed by almost 10,000 firms. We believe the breadth of our experience qualifies us to serve your organization and its employees.
Warren Averett offers clients proven quality audits and technical expertise. As you may know, the Department of Labor (DOL) has been performing desk reviews of audit workpapers. They have found several common deficiencies as a result of these reviews. Warren Averett has had an audit reviewed and the DOL found no deficiencies and did not issue a letter of comments. These results confirm that our systems of internal quality controls provide assurance of quality audit work and assurance that our professionals take their responsibility to adhere to the profession’s standards seriously. The outcome reinforces our theory that our engagements have a high degree of partner participation. The hands-on attitude and involvement of partners permit us to deal with critical issues quickly and decisively and to communicate with client management in a timely manner.
